On October 19th, adolescents at Paradigm Malibu participated in Unity Day to advocate and promote awareness for National Anti-Bullying Day. The youth started by placing an orange ribbon at our residences in Malibu and continued to place ribbons throughout Los Angeles. Unity Day has been a celebration of awareness and support for individuals, schools and communities since 2011. One in four children and adolescents have experienced bullying. Bullying and Cyberbulling resources and awareness continue to become more prevalent; however, the incidents of bullying have continued to increase over the last five years.
At Paradigm, we have also continued to treat an increasing percentage of adolescents who have been bullied, often because of stigmas associated with reaching out for mental health support and/or identifying within the LGBT+ spectrum. Paradigm Treatment Centers has initiated a resource center containing articles and resources for parents, educators and adolescents. Paradigm Malibu is an adolescent mental health and drug treatment center dedicated to identifying, understanding and properly treating the core issues that impact teens and their families.
