Calais Brown is an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (#85701) and a native Angeleno who received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Principia College. While working with adolescent girls, in the St. Louis area, Calais found her passion for counseling as she supported her clients through depression, trauma, grief, and self-harming behaviors into self-affirmation and resiliency. In joining Paradigm, Calais draws upon her professional experiences, ranging from mental health support to high risk middle and high school students to therapeutic care for adults recovering from opioid addiction.
She enjoys working with highly complex cases of dual diagnosis, persistent depression, substance abuse and addiction and is committed to tailoring treatment to each teen’s individual needs and goals. In working with each youth and their family, she infuses and shares her knowledge and experience with child development, family systems, and developmental theory to foster movement toward recovery and wellness. Calais embraces a wellness model with an emphasis on mental health, not mental illness; a model that is strength-based, relational, trauma-informed and draws upon multiple theoretical modalities ranging from Psychodynamic to Solution-Focused. She has a particular interest in behavioral neuroscience, early intervention, and psychoeducation.
